A lot has happened since I wrote about first presentation in this class, I have learned quite a lot from professor Sinkoff and I am always happy about that. When ending the last presentation my group and I had we knew we had another one coming soon, though we knew our professor would prepare us, so we weren’t so worried. Our new project included multiple parts to it and was very detailed. This project was a theme project. We were assigned 2 topics and we had to break it up and find the most valuable information that we thought was important for our class to learn. Our two topics were Racial Divide and The Economy. I was excited about these topics because it we knew a bit about, so it made a bit easier.

I decided to be in the side of economy just because I wanted to learn more about it. I also helped with making the brochures for our group. Everyone looked up their information, but I was the one who put it together since I knew which program to use, and I had done a project like this in one of my other classes. I enjoy projects like this where we must be creative it makes it fun and enjoyable.

We were given almost about a month to do this project and it was time well needed to be able to gather all our information and put it together. This project seemed a little harder when the professor was explaining it, but I think I was just intimated by the amount of work. Once I organized myself and figured out how to space it, I was able to do my part in just a couple days. I learned a lot from my other team members when we would talk about how we would structure our project. It always starts off with us worried and confused because we want to do a good job but then we get the hang of it as we help each other, and we are reminded that we are not alone in this.

I enjoy the group I am in there is never a moment when someone doesn’t do their part, we all work together and that it what I enjoy. Though there are always down sides to working in a team, sometimes we do have disagreements, but we always work them out in the end. This class has helped me learn a lot about myself and how to work better with others.

Like I had said before I found this presentation pretty easy although it involved a lot of different parts to it, but what made it easy was the fact that it was a team effort. Because of the presentations that our professor assigns us I feel like I really get the chance to grow since it deals with things out of my knowledge; leading me to branch out.

The topics we were told to research and present were two that are very big at this time in society, so it was a chance to learn about them. I have never been one to be interested in politics but because of my group project I had gained the knowledge to now partake in certain conversations when brought up. I have been able to communicate and talk more than I have before whether it be with strangers or even my own family and because I have information the conversations flow.

What really helped me as well is the fact that I am taking a government class on some nights and my professor works for homeland security so whatever questions I had or any curiosities I would go to her. And she is an amazing professor because of her I am now more knowledgeable than I have ever been on our country and its history. So it was a really great mix I had this month.

A little off topic or maybe not so much but viewing everyone else’s presentations and being in the government class I come to realize how important our voice is when growing this country. Not only have I realized that the bare necessities are being toyed around with but I also our right to the basic needs just because they’re not “literally” written in the country’s constitution. I wish I had this knowledge before my presentation it could’ve been useful but at least I know it now, better late than never.

At the end of the day our voices matter and the only way that our points will be made and heard is by doing our job educating ourselves and listening to what our teachers and higher ups have to say. We all have the power and knowledge to educate ourselves in doing better for us and the next generations. And I am glad that I learned this in this class and in my others.

I honestly can’t wait to see what the next group presentation is and hopefully I didn’t jinx myself into a hard one. But even then I know that I will do my best in whatever gets thrown my way and I am sure my team feels the same way.
